CRESWELL – If a couple of enterprising business owners have their way you can enjoy an “Island Escape” which is the Hawaiian meaning of their business name, Aina Pakele, a tanning salon here in Creswell, Oregon.
Heather Davis & Stefanie Smith were sitting around one day wondering what they could do to be in business and “tanning salon” came to mind. This is because Grandpa, “Donald Smith”, owner of the Whistle Stop Barber Shop in Creswell for years had Grandmas’ beauty shop adjacent to his own, where Heather & Stefanie frequently “hung out” and dreamed of having their own business.
So, when they were faced with Beauty College or owning their own business the later was their choice because of the memories with Grandma & Grandpa and it was “an easy way to get into business”, according to both Heather & Stefanie.
Opening in March 2006 there are now business plans that include opening around the U of O campus, with Florence and Corvallis future planned locations.
Boasting “having the best beds in town” (Sundash Competition 232, Radius 252 High Pressure Stand Up) other services include hair, nail, waxing, facials all performed with “Friendly Service”.
Both agree doing business in Creswell allows them to draw from the outlying communities, to enjoy the friendliness of the Creswell community and the graciousness of other local businesses in Creswell.
