BLONDIE’S BLOOMS & BLUEBERRIES ARE
BLOOMING AND GROWING!
Blondie (Tonya Rager) and her family, husband Kean and son Harry, moved to Creswell in 1998. Their nursery is within walking distance of their newly built home, which is also adjacent to her parents’ farm.
Tonya’s Grandfather raised orchids and her Grandmother raised and sold annuals and vegetables. Her interest and love of gardening was inherited from her Grandparents as well as her mother. Her mother, Susan assists in the nursery on weekends and evenings. Expansion plans will include her mother as a regular employee upon her retirement.
The nursery opened in 2000 with a small selection of annuals and some perennials, and hanging baskets. Blondie’s has expanded, and in addition to the annuals and hanging baskets, a selection of perennials, trees, rhododendrons, azaleas, roses and various shrubs are offered. This year the addition of new garden décor, fountains and small statues also brings a larger selection of plants, novelties and supplies for the gardener.
The official opening date for this year was April 1. Blondie’s will remain open through early fall. The nursery is open daily from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, closing at 5:00 on Sunday. For information, please call 912-0931. She offers free delivery for trees within the Creswell area.
Blueberries were planted as part of the overall plan for the land. They began to bear fruit last year, and a good crop is anticipated this year. Blueberries will be offered for sale and on a limited u-pick basis. Her father, Chet helps to maintain the blueberry fields.
Blondie enjoys helping customers with their plant selection and garden design as well as designing planter bowls. When she is not helping customers she is busy watering and keeping the plants tidy and fresh, and working in the blueberries. Her days usually end as late as 8:00PM.
Come out stroll around the beautiful plants that Blondie has brought in for those who are looking for something special. Blondie has a way of making your visit something you want to visit again and again.
