Electric Cars in Creswell?
Local Creswell residents may have glimpsed of an electric vehicle while driving around town. Mark Murphy, Owner of Blue Sky Designs uses the vehicle occasionally to run errands. According to Mark, the cost is just a few cents per mile. Just unplug it and drive.
Mark works out of his historic house on 2nd Avenue, having carved out space for him to build and assemble these vehicles. He prides himself in using parts that are locally manufactured and then delivered.
Mark has sixteen years of experience in a wide variety of three dimensional projects including automotive and alternative vehicles, toys, environmental and recreational products. He states that he has a commitment to environmentally and socially responsible design.
Known as a creative problem solver Mark states, He has the experience and insight to quickly evaluate and prioritize the viable options and then integrate them into cohesive and elegant design solutions that are appropriate and cost effective.
Recently he conceptualized and built an electric car kit that many high schools throughout the U.S. and Canada use for school projects and race. This is what he speaks of when he claims to be a visionary capable of conceptualizing new possibilities and trends in future products, and a hand on passion to see ideas become reality.
In 1973 Mark earned his Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Science, at Westminster College then in 1983 received his Bachelor of Arts in Industrial Design, Art Center College of Design. Mark has also received many awards for his work over the years including:

Mark himself understands that this technology is a few years off. He does however maintain the passion for his work and believes this is the answer to many economic issues that affect us all. It is just a matter of time before it becomes viable, he says.
