CRESWELL – Creswell Foreign Car Service opened on July 5, 1999.

The experience that led to the opening started at 16 with  work at a gas station for two years, followed by working at an MG Dealer in the Parts Dept. which included  a later promotion to Parts Manager.

In 1968 a two year hitch with the Marine Corps started of which 13 months was spent in Vietnam.

After Vietnam, the first position was at a VW dealership for six months, which was followed immediately by a “new car ready position” at an Audi/Porsche Dealer. Tom managed that department till attending mechanics school which led to line work at the Dealership. The next thirteen years was spent there of which the last three Tom served as Shop Foreman. While there, Tom completed all eight of the National Automotive Excellence Tests on the first try.

Eventually, the politics at the dealership worn too thin causing Tom & another mechanic to take a chance and open up a new business. Securing the join venture with savings, if fortunately paid off and after three years his partner decided it was time to leave the “rat race of California”. Tom then bought out his half of the business and his partner was on his way to Cottage Grove where he opened up a new business. Tom followed, ten years later and moved his family to Creswell where he worked for his former partner for two years.

When Johnny’s Chevron in Creswell closed Tom decided to purchase the property and Creswell Foreign Car Service was born.

Tom says, “I’ve been spoiled by running my own business and the wonderful customers in a great town.” Great pride is taken is his work as he, “tries to treat people how I would like to be treated. I fix their cars like I would fix my own, using only quality parts & 42 years of experience.”

Tom states, “I will not compromise my work by using inferior parts or cutting corners”. He goes on, “Like Herbert Hoover said, “the buck stops here,” and I never want a dissatisfied customer.”

The Creswell community has treated me with open arms and I love the small town atmosphere where you say “Hello” to a stranger.

Tom ends with, “Thank you for almost 7 years of your support. Stop in and say, Hi!”
