The Family Business

In October of 1972 Rod Hoffstot was recruited into Farmers Insurance -

”I was sitting in my Farmers Insurance office paying my bill to my parents agent which had insured my parent’s for about 50 years. At the time I was on crutches when the District Manager (Farmer’s) just happened to come by and immediately talking to me about my future. He signed my up right then, October of 1972.”

The thing that Rod enjoys the most about his work is when you settle a claim to help people get back on their feet. “When I deliver a Life Insurance check, it is a sad, but also great feeling.” Rod feels good on being there in the time of need.

Rod is a country boy and lives on a small horse ranch. He says, “I love the country.”

He feels strongly about the need to shop at home (Creswell) if you want to help your community. From a customer service standpoint he regularly sees people who have no idea of what they have for coverage and unfortunately, most people are underinsured.

With a smile on his face Rod says, “My wife Bonnie is my Office Manager and the heart and soul of the business. She is the best there is.”

Recently my son Ryan was brought into the business --

Ryan who is a Creswell High School graduate has gone to school here from 1st grade on. Ryan went to school to become an athletic trainer and now volunteers to run the weight training program at the high school for the football team where he also an assistant football coach.

Ryan worked as an electrician for almost three years for Bear Mountain Electric and enjoyed the work but missed dealing with people. Ryan says, “At Farmers I get to help people protect what they have worked so hard for. I watched my parents help people protect their assts my whole life, and with Farmers my Dad can transfer his policies to me when he decides to retire. This will keep the Hoffstot family servicing the families of Creswell and the surrounding areas. My goal is to help people understand insurance better, even if I don’t get their business. You have insurance to be insured in case something tragic happens. I want everyone to know they are insured with the Hoffstot’s first, and Farmers second.” Ryan goes on to say, “I will work as hard as I can to keep in touch with my clients no matter how many I have.”

Ryan states, “My favorite thing about doing business in Creswell is the people. I really enjoy this town and I am proud of being a part of it as it grows.” Ryan hopes to continue to serve this Community for a long time. “I not only will help with their insurance needs but also help their children to achieve their dreams in athletics.”
