Creswell, Oregon - ”I’ve been behind a camera for 20 years, for the most part just for fun. People kept asking me to do their wedding or personal portrait, so I decided about five years ago that I should take it more seriously as a business, states Mick Thaxton, owner of Northwest Pixel.
That was the start of OurLocalBusiness, Northwest Pixel whose owner, Mick Thaxton is a Creswell resident. Although currently leasing a studio in Eugene, “I have plans in the next year or so to build an in-home studio in Creswell who specializes in Weddings, Graduation Portraits, Boudoir, and Maternity Portraits.”
Currently serving on the Board of Director for the Professional Photographers of Oregon (PPO), Mick is dedicated to a continuing educational program, as well as agreeing to their code of ethics. “When interviewing a photographer, it is important to find out if they are part of a professional organization,” Mick states.
With no day the same, “I could be at the coast doing a senior portrait session, or in Southern Oregon doing a wedding, or in Portland at a seminar. I do spend quite a bit of time inspecting each and every photo.”
Known for getting to know each client as a friend, “I find out what the most important thing is to them about their session. Everyone has a different need or expectation, and it’s my job to find out what that is.” He believes a good working relationship is crucial to the results.
Being in Creswell allows him to respond to several areas very easily. It is centrally located, such that I can do business in several surrounding cities.
If you are having an important event, perhaps a local photographer could capture it, and Northwest Pixel, fits that bill.
