COTTAGE GROVE – “OK,” was the word used by Joann Guth when she purchased Pixie’s in Cottage Grove shortly after moving here from Florence, Oregon. Joann Guth, the new owner of Pixie’s bought the business after being introduced to it by her granddaughter who had moved above the Cottage Grove Downtown business.
Joann purchased the business primarily to “Get out of the house” after retiring from her employment at the Port of Siuslaw as a park aide. With all of her “children over here” it seemed logical for here to locate in the Creswell, Cottage Grove area.
Guth opened on August 1, 2006 and redecorated the store in October 2006 which required closing for a short time.
“I enjoy visiting and meeting new people,” when asked what she enjoyed most about your business. “My days are always different,” as Guth describes her day to day work, “sometimes I am very busy and other times I get a lot of knitting done,” which she sells in her shop.
Guth intends to “Expand the variety of selection in addition to the young teens and dressy type clothing,” that occupies her present product mix. She describes herself staying “in tune” to her customer requests and reacting accordingly.
She smiles as she explains, “I love the small town atmosphere, and people that stop in to compliment her on the window display.”
One of the concerns Guth describes is “The lack of lighting around her store,” which she feels makes it dangerous. “Should the city take a look at this,” she poses.
Joann Guth is one of those people who is a pleasure to be around and truly likes to have you around. Stop in and meet her and save on your clothing purchases while you are there.
