Creswell at Meet of Champions
Willamette University, Salem, OR - Saturday, April 26, 2008
This meet is an invitational meet for only the top 1A, 2A, 3A and 4A athletes from around the state.
Only the top 24 entries in each event are selected for this meet. Creswell had 8 athletes entered in to the meet. Jasem Dulany did not compete in this meet due to a conflict with the "Mr. Bulldog" Pagent. Garrett Presley was the highest finisher for the day with his 6th place finish in the 110 meter high hurdles. For a meet of this magnitude and competition everyone competed well. I am impressed with how our athletes have responded each meet. Kelsey Hanson bettered her times
in both of her races and so did Samantha Tigue. The only set back to the meet was that Grayson England was not feeling 100% and he had to run the toughest double in track (400 & 800 meters) and larry Powell had a good run going in the 800 meters when he made contact with another runner on the second lap and went down.
The varsity team travels to Scio for the PacWest vs TriRiver Twilight meet on Thursday and then we have the PacWest District Championships on May 8th and 10th at Western Oregon

The boys came out and won 8 events plus the 4 x 100 meter relay. The boys were lead by Justin Bryant finally recovering form shin splits and winning the 100m and long jump and palcing 2nd in the 200m. It was also nice to see Garret Presley come back from his injury and win the high jump and 110m High hurdles. Other 1st place finishers were:Grayson england in the 400 meters, Larry Powell in the triple jump and Jasem Dulany in the 3000 m. Both larry and Jasem are leading the pacWest League in these events. The 4 x 100 m relay team also took first.

The girls meet was highlighted by Leonie Mohr's school record in the 300 m hurdles. Her time of 50.37 was better than the record set by Shandra Greig of 50.8 back in 1984. Creswell had 9 first place finishes but it was not enough to overcome Toledo's depth. Creswell winners were: Tiffany Letsom (tied for 1st in the pole vault); the 4 x 400 m relay team of Allie Tirril, Kathryn Annett, Caitlin Johnson, Kelsey Hanson; the 4 x 100 m relay team of Anna-Lena Faehrmann, Kathryn Annett,Breanna Schmidt, Samantha Tigue; Kelsey Reed in the 100 m hurdles; Leonie Mohr in the 1500 m and 300 hurdles; Chantell Giles in the 800 m; Samantha Tigue in the 800 m; and Anna-Lena Faehrmann in the 200 m.
